- New POS Pópuli APP, instant information on mobile phones

- From cell phones, you can learn about procedures, services and medicines contained in the health benefits plan charged to the capitation payment unit.

Bogotá (D.C.), April 2, 2018. A new step to improve transparency in the relationship between the health system and Colombians was taken by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection with the launch of its new POS Pópuli mobile application.

This APP also aims to strengthen the exercise of the right to health, with instant information, and to avoid subjective interpretations and ambiguities. Those interested can download the Pos Pópuli application in Google Play store, for devices that work with Android technology, and in the App Store, for mobile phones with IOS technology.

POS Pópuli includes the updated list of services, procedures and medicines to which all Colombians are entitled in the health benefits plan charged to the capitation payment unit (PBSUPC).

It also contains a calculator to verify the amount to be paid for copayments and it forwards to MIPRES when the technology is not on the list.

The application includes the new descriptive MEDCOL-STAT module, with the aim to present the trends in prescription, consumption and expenditure of drugs covered by the plan, which forwards to the Ministry's website.

Additionally, it has different search types, such as consultation by keyword or code (CUPS for procedures and ATC for medicines), consultation by type of health technology, using the glossary and consultation of published documents.

The mode of use is simple: enter the name of the service, procedure or medication, in the search panel and the application will bring up all the information specified above. Remember that the search criteria for medicines must coincide with active ingredients and not with brand names. If you do not find the name of the technology, check the list of financing exclusions.
