Press Bulletin No. 179, 2018

- The certification recognizes transparency, effectiveness, efficiency, efficacy and organization in Ministry management.

Bogotá (DC), November 13, 2018. The Ministry of Health and Social Protection received ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Certification by SGS Colombia SAS. This ratifies compliance with certain requirements, which, together, increase the quality of the different services offered by the Ministry.

This is the third consecutive year demonstrating that the Ministry of Health is continuously improving the management of its resources.

"This achievement is the result of the work of all Ministry employees at the different levels, of confirmed commitment, of compliance with defined guidelines and instruments and, most importantly, of understanding that each activity we do guarantees the most precious asset of every human being: their health," assured the Secretary General of the Ministry, Gerardo Burgos.

In December 2016, the Ministry was certified ISO 9001:2008. However, the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the National Accreditation Body of Colombia (ONAC) updated the standard with the issuance of ISO 9001:2015. This situation resulted in the adaptation of the quality system–including the Ministry processes and procedures–to the new norm, to obtain certification ratification under the new parameters.

After attaining ratification of the certification, the 2019 challenge for the Ministry focuses on the integration of the management system with all its subsystems, among which are quality, environmental management, information security, safety and health at work, internal control and administrative development. Complementing this integration is the consolidation of the implementation of the Comprehensive Planning and Management Model (MIPG).
