(DC), August 15, 2017. The Minister of Health and Social Protection, Alejandro
Gaviria, visited the facilities of the Administrator of the Resources of the
General System of Social Security in Health (ADRES, in Spanish), entity that
replaced the Solidarity and Guarantee Fund in Health (FOSYGA, in Spanish).
The
officials presented the Minister the progress in the operation of the entity.
The Minister spoke directly with associates from all areas about the
achievements to date and the challenges for the future.
During
his visit, Gaviria was satisfied with the progress and thanked officials’
efforts. He recognized that there is much to build and improve, while stressing
the importance of the entity for the General System of Social Security in
Health.
As
of August 1, all activity conducted by the Security and Guarantee Fund (FOSYGA)
was assumed by ADRES, an entity attached to the Ministry of Health and Social
Protection, with legal personality, administrative and financial autonomy and
independent capital.
The
purpose of ADRES is to manage the resources of the Guarantees and Salvage Fund
for the Health Sector (FONSAET, in Spanish), as well as those financing health
insurance, co-payments for benefits not included in the Benefit Scheme of the
Contributory System, resources that are collected as a result of the efforts by
the Special Administrative Unit of Pension Management and Social Protection
Employment Contributions (UGPP, in Spanish).
