Press release Press Release No. 1221, 2021

Bogotá DC, December 6, 2021. In the framework of the responsible individual distancing phase and the safe economic reactivation, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection has just ratified measures in line with the current health emergency derived by COVID-19 and according to the current epidemiological behavior of the pandemic.

Gerson Bermont, director of Promotion and Prevention, pointed out that Decree 1614, 2021, “considers the current epidemiological situation, which, although indicators have reported improvements, in the last month there has been a significant increase in the number of confirmed cases by COVID-19, as well as a percentage of positivity above 10% in some regions of the country.”

The aforementioned resolution states that, at the province level, some regions show a sustained increase in cases and percentage of positivity, therefore, despite the vaccination coverage achieved, in relation to the boost in observed cases, there could be new spikes in mortality and hospitalization due to COVID-19.

Measures
Regarding this current scenario, the national government has decided to ratify selective isolation, responsible individual distancing, and safe economic reactivation measures, which will govern the health emergency that is in effect until February 28, 2022.

All people in the national territory must comply with the biosafety protocols to reduce the spread of the pandemic and contagion, such as correct and permanent use of a mask and constant hand washing with soap and water, among other measures.

Likewise, citizens must comply with the instructions adopted by national entities and ministries to avoid the spread of COVID-19.

It should be taken into account that, among the provisions of the administrative act, it is established that no city or municipality can decree a curfew or time restrictions on mobility as a health measure to mitigate COVID-19, unless granted permission from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and with due authorization from the Ministry of Labor.

Additionally, within the framework of the measure, no municipality with an ICU occupancy greater than 85% may enable face-to-face spaces or activities such as public or private events that involve massive attendance of people.

For their part, hotels, gastronomic establishments, and parks will not be included in the measure in the case that the ID Card restrictions are implemented.

Finally, it is still recommended that public and private sector entities establish modalities such as teleworking, remote work or work at home, to meet the labor needs.
