- Ten-Year Plan, Post-Conflict and implementation of the new Comprehensive Care Model were the items on the agenda
Bogotá, DC, April 13, 2016. The second dialogue
meeting between the UN system and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection
aimed to progress in the implementation of the joint international cooperation agenda
within the framework of the sector challenges of the National Development Plan
and priorities within a Post-Conflict scenario.
The main outcome was the agreement to conduct
a pilot interagency coordination exercise in the Province of Nariño that aims
to: align international cooperation, promote synergies, avoid duplication and
respond to neglected priorities, in order to enhance the impact of cooperation.
The intervention of the Deputy Minister of
Public Health and Health Services Delivery, Fernando Ruiz, focused on three
main points: the territorial development of the 2012-2021 Ten-Year Public
Health Plan; health interventions in a possible post-conflict scenario and the
implementation of the Comprehensive Health Care Model (MIAS).
The Deputy Minister said “these three aspects
will be key for the transformation of the Colombian health system. The center
is the patient, as stipulated in statutory law, so that all actions allow a
more caring vision of the system.” He also emphasized that the development of
MIAS is traceable in a post-conflict scenario, with specific developments, when
the demobilization zones are defined. “This inter-sector planning will allow reaching
the territories in a coordinated fashion, promoting the Comprehensive Health
Care Model, the primary challenge of which is implementation,” he said.
The meeting, led by the Office of Cooperation
and International Relations of the Ministry, was attended by delegates of the
agencies of the United Nations System (the Office of the Resident Coordinator,
UNFPA, UNICEF, WHO, IOM, FAO UNODC, WFP and UNDP); representatives of the
Presidential Agency for International Cooperation - APC Colombia, the Ministry
of Post-Conflict and the Office of the High Commissioner for Peace. It also
featured the virtual participation of the Director of the Nariño Province
Health Institute.
