Press Bulletin No. 142, 2017
- These are the first to get permits under the new regulations, also known as Ley Galán.
Bogotá, October 5, 2017. Med Colombia, Cannabis Medicinal Group, Medcann Colombia, Colombian Organics, Canmecol and Khiron Colombia are the new companies authorized to manufacture cannabis derivatives for medicinal and scientific purposes. They are also the first to get a permit under Law 1787, also known as Ley Galán.
Consequently, the companies authorized to develop this activity in Colombia amount to twelve.
The license to process cannabis for medicinal and scientific purposes, depending on the modalities requested, authorizes the manufacture, export, research, marketing and distribution of psychoactive cannabis derivatives.
Once the processing license is granted, the companies can receive their cultivation license, if they have requested it.
Although some of the new licensees have foreign capital, all are established in Colombia.
The other companies authorized to process cannabis derivatives for medicinal and scientific purposes are Cannalivio, Pideka, Ecomedics, Econnabis, Cannavida and Pharmacielo. In this case, the licenses were granted under Decree 2467, 2015, repealed to give way to the legislation in the Ley Galán.
