Press Release No. 170, 2016
- The app to compare drug prices, know the best EPSs and IPSs, file complaints and obtain health information has been online for three months.
Bogota, August 17, 2016. ClicSalud, the application developed by the Government for users to compare drugs prices, know the best Health Promotion Organizations (EPSs) and Health Care Providers (IPSs), file complaints and stay informed about health issues, has completed 20,352 downloads on its first quarter in operation.
Introduced last May 16 by the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of ICT, Colciencias and the Superintendency of Health, ClicSalud is a tool for users to make informed decisions, whether to save when buying in pharmacies, or when choosing an EPS, among others.
Of the total downloads in the first three months, 3,803 were made by the Apple online store and 16,549 by Android.
ClicSalud allows the user to display, on the screen, all the prices of the same drug developed by various laboratories in order to make an informed decision when making a purchase.
It also informs users of the best qualified EPSs and IPSs (clinics, hospitals, medical centers, laboratories). In fact, users can evaluate the service received in real time, which helps the Superintendency of Health to strengthen its mechanisms for inspection, monitoring and control at the national level.
The application's main menu consists of three components: "I choose to know," which contains information about the prices of different brands of the same medicine, as well as the quality of the EPSs and IPSs in the country; "Your voice in the system," which allows rating health care, request information, and file petitions and complaints; and "Did you know that...?", which provides news of the system; information on the rights and duties of individuals within the framework of social security, and recommendations related to diseases.
ClicSalud is part of a national government initiative aimed at promoting transparency in the health sector and generating greater trust between citizens and the system.
