Caucasia (Antioquia), October 27, 2022. During her visit to the province of Antioquia in the framework of the Binding Regional Dialogues of Bajo Cauca, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Carolina Corcho, expressed her commitment to the most remote regions of the country to strengthen public health.
Her remarks began by pointing out that the National Government "wants to build a National Development Plan hand in hand with the people, which will represent the roadmap for the next four years." This document "will be drafted by the territories and the communities, so that it does not become a closed technical discussion at the desks of Bogotá or the capital cities," she added.
In this sense, Corcho said that there is a commitment to public deliberation in the municipalities of Caucasia, Zaragoza, El Bagre, Nechí, Tarazá, Cáceres, as well as the municipalities of Córdoba and the south of Bolívar.
"The people of these municipalities have mobilized to be able to define their future," said the minister, adding that these regional dialogues will outline the strategic priorities to improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable and excluded populations on the banks of the lower Cauca.
She asked the people of Bajo Cauca, Antioquia, Córdoba and Bolívar to express themselves "and be able to tell the Government and the Congress of the Republic of their needs. Here we are going to discuss various issues on the country's public agenda, and it will be a very important discussion about the fundamental right to health."
Public health
The health authority stated that one of the topics in the Regional Dialogues is that of hospitals. "With the community of Bajo Cauca, Antioquia, we will prioritize assistance centers that require urgent interventions, and we will accompany the local authorities in making projects viable."
In closing, she emphasized the importance of resolving the health problems of Bajo Cauca and the municipalities of Antioquia. "That's what we're here for, listening and working with the community," she said.
