Bogotá, October 25, 2021. This Monday, Colombia received a new batch of vaccines from the Sinovac laboratory, which arrived through the COVAX Mechanism.
Germán Escobar, head of staff of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, explained that it is a batch of 2,260,800 doses, which will be used for first, second and booster doses.
"These vaccines will make it possible to continue advancing in the National Vaccination Plan, starting new schedules, completing other schedules and having booster doses," Escobar assured.
Escobar also highlighted that they are awaiting evaluation of the latest evidence of the use of this vaccine in the pediatric population, "so that in the coming weeks–after Invima assessment and with the existing evidence–we can evaluate if this vaccine can be used with this group of people," added Escobar.
The chief of staff put the spotlight on the fact that, with this new batch, the country completes 62,076,784 doses of vaccines in the territory from all laboratories and mechanisms, including bilateral negotiation, COVAX Mechanism, donations and those acquired by the private sector.
