As of March 23, registrations will be open for the updating and training of health care workforce

Bogotá DC, March 22, 2021. With a view to further increasing the health care workforce trained for vaccination against covid-19, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection is reopening registrations for the course on management of vaccination against covid-19, for those IPS colleagues who have not completed such training to date.

 

In this regard, Kattya Margarita Baquero, director of Health Care Workforce Development indicated that "within the framework of the planning defined for the development of the Vaccination Plan against Covid-19 in Colombia and meeting all the requirements in this regard to carry out these events safely and with the fulfillment of the goals, this training process will begin at the same time."

 

The official added that this course aims to strengthen the skills of current and future vaccinators, for the proper management and administration of the Covid-19 vaccine.

 

For this reason, the Ministry of Health, in partnership with different training centers and universities in the country, summons different career disciplines, such as nursing, medicine, bacteriology, nursing assistants and public health assistants to participate in these free trainings.

 

Additionally, these trainings are certifiable "as long as the activities, requirements and demands by each institution are fulfilled," emphasized Kattya Margarita Baquero, adding that registration will be open from March 23 to April 2, 2021 until 4:00 pm, on the following link: https://tramites.minsalud.gov.co/Encuestas/ManejoVacunacion.aspx

 

This course will address the following topics: 1) Generalities of the EPI and regulations, 2) Current situation of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, general aspects and advances in Covid-19 vaccines, 3) Technical and operational guidelines of the National Vaccination Plan against Covid-19, 4) Technical aspects of vaccines against Covid-19, 5) Technical aspects of the EPI and policy of open vials, safe vaccination, 6) Management of the cold chain in refrigerated conditions, deep freezing, handling of personal protective equipment and temperature excursion, 7) Information system, 8) Epidemiological surveillance: report and follow-up to ESAVI, and 9) Psychological first aid to Covid-19 vaccination teams.

 

For their part, the training centers that will support the process will be SENA, Revive Entrenamiento Médico Integral, Cruz Roja, Insimed, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Universidad Nacional de Colombia and Universidad Militar Nueva Granada.

 

In closing, Baquero indicated that once the call is closed "as of Tuesday, April 6, 2021, the person who registered will receive an email with a welcome greeting from the assigned university to start the course on the page of each Institution."
