- The Ministry of Health signed an agreement in Geneva to develop programs for the fight against HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis.

Geneva (Switzerland), May 24, 2019. The Ministry of Health and Social Protection continues to develop actions and make efforts for Colombians to have more access and quality in the services of this sector.

This Friday, in Geneva, the Ministry signed an agreement with the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, which will strengthen HIV prevention and control programs in Colombia, and the development of other similar future programs aimed at malaria and tuberculosis.

Iván Darío González, Deputy Minister of Public Health and Service Provision, said that this is a relevant event for the country. "This signature has very important implications for improving access and treatment of patients with HIV," he said.

The first action derived from the Agreement, he informed, is the approval of a 10-million-dollar program to intensify Ministry of Health activities in topics related to AIDS. "The Ministry has been working with the Global Fund on prevention and information with financial and technical support that will allow us to advance in the care of patients with HIV," added González.

This meeting is part of the agenda of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in Geneva (Switzerland) within the World Health Assembly of the World Health Organization (WHO), which also includes meetings with sector authorities of other countries.
