- The assigned professionals will begin to provide their Mandatory Social Service in the territories starting next May 1st.

Bogotá DC, April 17, 2020. The Ministry of Health and Social Protection, through the Office for the Development of Health Care Human Talent, carried out, via streaming, the second process of assigning slots for the 2020 mandatory social service, for professionals in Nursing, Medicine, Dentistry and Bacteriology.

 

In this regard, Oswaldo Barrera, Coordinator of the group for the exercise and performance of health care human talent, pointed out that due to social isolation measures, the draw was carried out virtually, inviting a representative from each of the professions that registered. Also participating was a representative from the Cundinamarca Health Office and one from the Bogotá District Health Office, in the oversight committee and to guarantee the transparency of the process.

 

"Once the Committee was introduced, the draw continued, resulting in the allocation of 545 slots for medicine, 120 for nursing, 73 for dentistry and 48 for bacteriology, for a total of 786 assigned slots," he said.

 

The official pointed out that 2,259 professionals registered for this second process and those who were assigned slots throughout the country will begin to provide their mandatory social service as of May 1st, solving health problems for the communities in the territory where the assigned slots are located.

 

In relation to the exonerated professionals, he explained that "803 nursing professionals, 371 of dentistry, 169 of bacteriology and 121 of medicine were exempted, who will be able to initiate the process of authorization of professional practice in the college of the corresponding profession and start their work as health professionals."
